I had a fantastic time at Shivaji College, Delhi University, on October 31st, 2023! We dived deep into the world of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) during a one-day session held at the Geography Department. It was all about learning and practicing real-world GIS applications while exploring the amazing career prospects it offers.
What exactly is GIS? Well, it’s a technology that helps us understand our world better by visualizing and analyzing different kinds of data on maps. And guess what? It’s not just a fascinating tool; it’s also a gateway to diverse and exciting career paths!
During our session, we delved into the practical side of GIS. We didn’t just talk about it; we rolled up our sleeves and worked hands-on with the GIS software. From mapping geographical data to analyzing patterns and even creating our own interactive maps, it was a day filled with exploration and discovery.
We discussed how GIS is used in various industries like urban planning, environmental conservation, disaster management, and even in the realms of business and marketing. The prospects for careers in GIS are vast, and the session aimed to shed light on these opportunities.
At the Geography Department, the enthusiasm and interest of the participants were incredible. Their eagerness to learn and absorb new knowledge made the session even more enjoyable and rewarding.
